10 People Died, Another 24 Injured After A Bomb Blast In Popular Philippine Market

Tragedy has struck a busy market in Philippine's president hometown, Davao city, after a bomb went off, killing 10 people, while injuring another 24. President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines was at his hometown at the time of the bomb blast, but was far away from the scene of the blast.

                       

The incident took place in the street market outside the high-end Marco Polo hotel, one of the hotel the president visits frequently.

Police Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan said that witnesses have only given them contrasting accounts of the blast. While some of them said that the blast was from a gas that exploded, others are suggesting it is some kind of explosives.

                    

At the time of this writing, 5 men and 5 women were reported dead.

President Rodrigo Duterte was Mayor of Davao City for 20 years before becoming the Philippines president.

Duterte was moved to a police station after the blast to be safe.
