4 Sentenced To Death, 8 Jailed, 11 Police Officers Sentenced To Prison For Farkhunda mob death

The news of Farkhunda, the Afghan woman that was beaten by mob has sent 11 Afghan police officers to one year in prison, four sentenced to death and another 8 sentenced to jail for killing a defenceless woman in March.

Farkhunda, 27 was beaten to death after she was accused of burning the holy Quaran by an amulet seller, a story which witnesses said was not true. Instead the lady had approached an amulet seller and argued with him about his peddling of charm at the Shah-Du-Shamshaira shrine, a place not far from the presidential palace and Kabul's main bazaar.

Why arguing the amulet seller accused the lady of burning the Quran, the crowd without verifying information attacked the young lady, and she was killed during the mob attack.

The attackers while reading the statement in court said they never saw her burning the account, but were attracted by the claim of the lady burning the Quran. An official evidence also proves that she never burned the Quran.

The amulet seller is part of the people sentenced to death in court, also 11 police officers who were at the scene without helping the defenceless woman have been sentenced to 1 year in prison each, another four men have been sentenced to death for the killing
