Breaking News: Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye, Nigeria Ambassador Is Dead

The Nigeria ambassador to the US, Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye is dead. The ambassador died at a US undisclosed hospital. According to Sahara reporters, the ambassador was waiting to handover to a new ambassador, he was recently recalled by the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari.

           

Mr Adefuye, a former professor of history,he hailed from Ijebu Igbo, in Ogun state, He was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Adefuye in 1947. Attended university at the University of Ibadan and earned his first degree in 1947 and also PhD in history in 1973.

Mr Adefuye was appointed by ex-president Goodluck Jonathan in 2010. Mr Adefuye is known as a patriotic and diplomatic person. He is outspoken and always in defense of his country, Nigeria. He comes hard on Nigeria critics, and played a major role to remove Nigeria name on "country of interest" in America's terrorism watch list.

Before his appointment to the US, Adefuye was a Nigeria ambassador to Jamaica(where he was concurrently accredited to Haiti and Belize) between 1987 to 1991. And in 1991, he was appointed as Nigeria’s Deputy High Commissioner in the U.K., leaving to work as a Deputy Director at the Commonwealth.

On leaving the Commonwealth, the former professor accepted a position as an advisor at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
