Police in Oklahoma are hunting for Michael Vance for allegedly killing two people and also injuring two police officers in a shootout.

Police were responding to a report of shots being fired in a caravan park near a highway in Wellston, a small town near the capital Oklahoma City, on Sunday evening at approximately 6:30pm (00:30am UK time).

When officers arrive at the scene, the suspect started shooting at the officers. One officer was shot in the foot, another officer was shot in both legs, but both injuries are not life threatening. The other two victims believed to be family members were found dead at the scene.

Vance, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, carjacked a woman living in the caravan park and fled the scene. Though the woman was also shot at, but her condition does not require hospital attention/treatment.

An accomplice of Vance was apprehended, and police also believed that Vance also might have been struck with a bullet during the gunfight.

Speaking on the suspect, Sheriff Charlie Dougherty said;

He recently got out of my jail. He was accused of child sexual assault. We were doing an investigation, we arrested him. That is supposedly what set him off but we don`t know that for sure yet.

Also police released a statement on their Facebook page, and it reads;

At approximately 6:30 this evening, two Wellston police officers were shot while responding to a shots fired call in the Wellston area. The injuries were fortunately not life-threatening.
