A Moroccan Court Jailed 3 People For Homosexuality

While a lot of western and European countries have accepted homosexuality in their countries, African leaders have failed to allow homosexuality in their different countries, and have vowed not to bow to pressure from international communities.

Three Moroccans have been jailed for homosexuality, which is not allowed in the conservative North African nation. A 40 year old and a 20 year old Moroccan was caught while in the act after police acted on a tip off. The 2 men were caught in the mechanic workshop belonging to the 40 year old.

During interrogation, the men confessed to have met through a mutual friend, who was also arrested and admitted to having sexual relations with the duos too.

Article 489 of Morocco’s penal code states that anyone found guilty of carrying out “a deviant act with a person of the same sex” will be jailed for to up to three years. In a poll published in November, 8 out of 10 Moroccans disapprove of homosexuality.
