Nigerian Man Sentenced To 3 Years In Phishing Scam Email Targeting Government Employees In USA

A Nigerian man, Mr Abiodun Ade John have been sentenced to 3 years in prison after defrauding government employees and stealing over $1 Million dollar. Mr John was sentenced to prison in his role in hacking government employees' email accounts by phishing.

                 

The accused man had used several aliases like James Williams, Olawale Adeyemi, Abiodun Ade-John in carrying out his fraudulent acts. He pleaded guilty to before U.S district judge,  William H. Walls to an information charging him with one count of wire fraud conspiracy.

How He Defrauded Government Employees

Ade John had created a phishing website of different government websites and supply the websites to different government agencies to deceive them into their login information. Ade John will now access the government email with the provided information and use it to place fraudulent orders for office supplies to government authorized vendors.

All orders are shipped to New Jersey, then repackaged and sent to Nigeria where they sell them. 

Ade John is ordered by the court to pay $630,306.48 in restitution
