Vietnam Wins Its First Ever Gold In Rio 2016

After 64 years, Vietnam has finally made history by winning its first ever gold in Rio Olympics 2016. The country won its first ever gold in men’s 10 meter air pistol on Saturday, thanks to 41 year old, Hoang Xuan Vinh.

Hoang had competed in the 2012 Olympics in London, but fails to make the final by a single point and finished 9th in the 10 meter air pistol. And also another heartbreak happened to him when he was crushed to the fourth place in the 50 meter air pistol, and lost the bronze medal by 0.1 points.

Hoang changed his destiny in Rio, and refused to be fighting for the third place, he instead went for gold. He was on a very tough one with Felipe Almeida Wu. And at the end of the game, Hoàng was able to win his opponent by 0.4 points.

Hoàng total overall score was 202.5,and he also set a new Olympic record due to a new scoring system being adopted following the 2012 London Olympics.
