HP laptops have now been found to have keylogging code pre-installed dating back to 2012. The code was found by Michael Myngand had affected 460 models of HP laptops/

HP confirmed the news, and have released a patch to help customers fix the error. The laptops affected includes EliteBook, ProBook, Pavilion and Envy ranges, among others. HP also listed the full list of the laptops involved.

The error was discovered when Michael was inspecting Synaptics Touchpad Software to learn how the software backlight works on the HP laptop. Though the keylogger was disabled by default, but a hacker could it to see record whatever the laptop owner is typing.

HP acknowledged that the issue could lead to ""loss of confidentiality", but said that both Synaptics and HP have no access to the record of of the customer that results from the flaw.
