Breaking News : Indonesian Trigana Aircraft Carrying 54 People Is Gone Missing

The Indonesian search and rescue mission are currently looking for a passenger plane with flight number number, TGN267, after it failed to arrive at his destination in Oksibil. The plane went missing over the remote region of Papua, with 54 people on board.

The domestic aircraft belongs to the Trigana air service, and it was carrying 44 adult passengers, 5 children and infants, 5 crew members. Search of the aircraft was hindered by stormy weather over the mountainous and remote region. 

         

The Trigana Air ATR 42-300 turboprop plane took off from the Sentani airport in the region's capital Jayapura on a flight to Oksibil, located south of the city. The plane then lost contacts after 33 minutes of takeoff,  just before 3.00pm (6.00am GMT). 

We are not sure what happened to the plane yet and we are coordinating with local authorities,The weather is currently very bad there, it's very dark and cloudy. It's not conducive for a search. The area is mountainous.  Transport ministry spokesman J.A. Barata  told AFP.  He also confirmed the missing aircraft ad lost contact and never arrived in its destination.

The Indonesian government is also working together with relevant authorities in the search of the missing aircraft.
