Chelsea Signed Barcelona Forward Pedro For £21m As Man Utd Stalls

Chelsea FC has signed Manchester United target, Pedro, 28, from Barcelona in a late bid. The new signee will be the 6th signing of Chelsea FC of the summer. Pedro travelled to London on Wednesday to hold talks on the £21m. deal, and personal terms won't be a problem with the signing.

Manchester United has been in pursuit to sign the Spaniard, but were stalling and not ready to meet with Barcelona transfer fee, and this frustrated Pedro, coupled with the fact that his conversation with former teammate, Victor Valdes, have left him in doubt of the manager, Louis Van Gaal management style.

Though Pedro was hoping to move to Manchester United, but the 11th hour signing of Chelsea will see him playing for the blues.

Jose Mourinho team has not been playing to his expectation, especially after the loss at the Etihad stadium last Sunday. "The special one", as Mourinho is fondly call knows that his team needs someone that can play the Frontline effectively and also a goal threat, Diego Costa slow start of the season might have helped making the quick and fast decision in signing Pedro.

Van Gaal has been eyeing Pedro has he admitted that Pedro is fast and penetrative forward Manchester United need , but since the club is playing hardball with Barcelona has alienated the player.

Pedro said that;

I am very happy to be here. I am very excited to start my adventure at Chelsea and I am here to keep winning titles. Thanks to the club and the supporters for giving me the opportunity to put the blue shirt on.

Pedro had signed a contract with Barcelona in June, but a lack of playtime at first opportunities at Camp Nou meant his future at Camp Nou is uncertain with Lionel Messi, Luiz Suarez and Neymar ahead of the pecking order.

A Barcelona statement reads :

 The club wishes to publicly express its gratitude to Pedro Rodriguez for his professionalism and dedication while with the club, as well as to wish him all the best in the future.
