Five Policemen Arrested In Brazil For Placing Gun On A Victim They Shot

Five policemen in Brazil have been arrested after a leaked video footage shows the men placing the gun on Victor Eduardo, 17, blood stained body. Before the discovery, police had reported that they killed the young man in self-defence after he attacked them, but the victim's family have said that he was murdered and never believed the police version of the story.

According to an eyewitness in the  Providencia favela, or shantytown, "He was armed, but he surrendered," she said. "After he raised his hands, they shot him."

In a video released online by a local, the five policemen had shot the boy and later shot the gun into the air and placed the gun in his hand, to make it look like he used the gun all by himself. The policemen have said that the young man was part of the gang member that attacked a police patrol in Favela. They were all arrested and questioned for allegedly altering a crime scene.

The Rio de Janeiro State Security Secretary Jose Mariano Beltrame, condemned the killing of the young man, and promise "exemplary punishment" for all officers involved in the killing of the man

The funeral rites for Victor Educardo was held on Wednesday, and mourners of the young man carried banner condemning the police actions.
