Nigeria Election: Twitter Ban User Calling For Murder Of All Igbos

As Nigerian user have been banned on the micro social network website, Twitter. The user with twitter handle @mcvaaey via his twitter handle had used the social network to spread hate speech against the Igbo tribe of Nigeria.

In one of his tweets, the users had asked that all Nigerians from the North to the south and west should go out enmasse to kill all Igbos because he think Igbo should be getting rid off. Nigerian twitter users who are not happy with such tweet reported the case to the @TwitterNigeria account, while some other Nigerians reported the user to the state security service.

The user was banned because he had violated Twitter policies that states that :

   Threats and abuse

Users may not make direct, specific threats of violence against others, including threats against a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, or disability. In addition, users may not post intimate photos or videos that were taken or distributed without the subject's consent. Targeted abuse or harassment is also a violation of the Twitter Rules and Terms of Service.
