The death of a Nigerian football player, David Faramola Oniya has shocked his teammates and rivals after he collapsed during a friendly football match between T-Team and Kelantan. The Nigerian player who also plays the defensive position for his team, T-Team, collapsed just 3 minutes into the game and was taken to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II) nearby.
David Faramola Oniya, 30 had barely had any contact with the ball before he was seen lying on the football pitch.
There was no hard running and it was a slow tempo match. It’s only a friendly game. The match was called off in the 60th minute when we received a call from the hospital that Oniya had died,” saidSyahrizan,T-Team chief executive officer.
Oniya had just joined the team and was only playing his first season when the incident happened.
