A Rosary Is Tagged Symbol Of Gang Activity In New Mexico

A student in a middle school, Latanyia Clah, an eighth-grader had said she was recently sent to the principal office and asked if she is involved in any gang related activity or selling drugs because she wore a rosary to the school.

              

Latanyia Clah told KOB-TV she was wearing the rosary with her sister after they had both received it as a Christmas gift. Responding to the allegation, administrators at Tibbetts middle school, Farmington said that the catholic bead are inappropriate attire.

The spokesperson of the Farmington municipal school said they consulted a priest who told them gang members use the rosaries as a symbol , which prompted administrators to ask students to stop wearing them.
