On the second of May 2015, the duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby girl at 8:34am (UK time). Weighing 3.7 kilograms (8 lbs 3oz), the baby and the mother are doing both fine.
The new baby is the first princess to be born for more than 180 years. A name is yet to be announced to the general public. The duke of Cambridge was present at the exclusive lindo wing of St. Mary 's hospital, London, the same place Prince William, Prince Harry and Prince George were born.
The announcement was delayed until The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families had all been informed.
