Ondo state, Nigeria: The World health organization (WHO) have debunked rumours from Ode-irele that some angry gods are angry with the god for breaking into a shrine in the town. As reported earlier, 17 people have died after a mysterious illness struck the town of Ode-Irele in Ondo state, Nigeria.
The people have died after symptoms of headache, weight loss, blurred vision and loss of consciousness killing the victims within 24 hours. Tweeting from his official twitter account, Head of Public Relations/Social Media for the World Health Organization-the UN Organization for public health, Gregory Härtl said that the test carried on by WHO in Lagos state university has said the victim are likely to have died from herbicides and not Ebola or or bacterial infection as said.
High Chief Explannation Of What Happened In The Town
The high chief of Ode-Irele,Chief Moses Enimade town disagrees with the hypothesis and this is the side of his story :
On 15th of April 2015, Some youths in the town of Ode-Irele broke into the shrine (inner room) of one of the gods in the town, Molokun. He said;
Molokun is a deity of the land, only the Chief Priest and High Chief Gboguron are qualified to enter the shrine
But the youths had entered the room, stole some traditional items and antiques in a bid to exchange them for high dollars and also use some of the items for money ritual. Those youths were not allowed to enter such room and if anybody enters the room without the Chief Priest and High Chief Gboguron, the repercussion is death.
Because of what these youths did, they will die as a result of their disobedience.
The only solution is to appease the gods on their behalf by performing traditional rites. The dead youths must be buried according to the traditional rites, any of the buried without the normal procedure will be exhumed because their corpses belong to the gods, he said
