Cameroon vs Croatia

FIFA had been called upon to look into the attitude of the Barcelona midfielder, Alex Song during their game with Croatia. The Croatians were leading the Cameroonian  team by 1-0, and in the 40th minutes, Song came from behind to elbow Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic. He was shown the red card from Referee Pedro Proenca.

Song bowed his own in humiliation and went out of the game. The Croatian side went further to score 3 more goals, making it four goals in total.

Four years ago, Song had a spat with Samuel Etoo,, and their disagreement caused the team splitting into 2 sections. That year, the Cameroonian  lost all three games and the same occurrence is happening the the Brasil 2014.

Match Fixing

During football games, many players are known to work with football betting agents to control the game. The betting might be scoring a own goal, faking an injury, or being rude to the referee or other players other football field to get a red card.

A closer look at Alex Song behaviour is not different from what have been making about match fixing. Mario Mandzukic was not with the ball or trying to score a goal in the  Cameroonian yard, he was only moving to support his team members in an attack before Alex Song came from behind to elbow him. He intentionally did this close to the referee, which means he had something in mind. The attitude had provoked not only football fans, but all Camerounians condeming his action and telling the world that is not the real Cameroun.

Alex Song attitude shows a clear reason that he was paid for his action. This action must be thoroughly investigated by FIFA and if he is found in a match fixing scandal, he should be banned from both league and international football.

It will be a good idea for his country to take a more disciplinary action toward this action too.

Alex Song Aplogized

Alex Song apologized for his action. In a statement he released, Song said :

'I'm very sad at the moment as I feel I have let my country and myself down.

'It was a stupid moment and I'm truly sorry. If I could do anything to take it back I would. Please forgive me.'
