Garment workers crash into Vietnam tourist bus

A bus carrying garment workers had crashed into a tourist bus from Vietnam, killing 21 garment workers and injuring five others in Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia. The crash happened around 7am on Tuesday morning.

                    

According to the  chief of the Interior Ministry’s public order department, Run Rathvesna :

  There are 18 who died, seven seriously injured…and 14 with minor injuries. They are at three hospitals: Chi Phu referral hospital, Svay Rieng hospital, and another clinic

Early reports from the Svay Rieng provincial police chief, Koeng Khorn is that 21 people had died in the crash when the van carrying garment workers crashed into a bus travelling from Phnom Penh to Vietnam.

The driver of the tourist bus, 15 SH Transport company, was arrested after sustaining minor injuries in the crash.Svay Rieng provincial military police chief On Soeung said.

The president of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers, Pav Sina said that the 5 victims of the crash are in serious conditions and are now receiving urgent medical treatment at Chi Phu referral Hospital.

The passengers of the tourist bus have been reported to have survived the crash.

Chan Dara, director of the Svay Rieng Provincial Referral Hospital said, the bodies of the deceased are being cleaned at the hospital before being returned to the hospital.
