police arrest man for ATM crime

Khanh Hoa, Vietnam: Police have arrested one of the six member gang of Peruvian nationality who stole cash from an ATM machine in Khanh Hoa province. The man and his accomplices had used a welding machine to cut into 2 ATM machines and stole $65,000 (1.4 billion Vietnamese Dong).

                                

Police arrested Nuez Correa Elmer Eduardo, a 42-year-old male of Peruvian nationality. The man with his accomplices had broke into a post office at Dien Khanh District in Khanh Hoa district and used a welding machine to cut into two 2 ATM cash compartments.

The crime had happened in March 29, but the policemen in Khanh Hoa district with the help of the Ho Chi Minh police have been tracking down Eduardo until he was apprehended in a hotel in the city on Tuesday.

How The Crime Happened

At 1:00am, Nuez Correa Elmer Eduardo(Nero) drove a car with two other Peruvians to Nga Ba Thanh post office in Dien Khanh where 2 Vietcom banks ATM was located. At the same time, three other Peruvians had come into to the post with two motorbikes.

They broke into the first floor of the post office after cutting the steel bar with a ratchet cable cutter. They then went to the downstairs to the ground floor, forced open 2 doors to get to the backside of 2 ATMs

They moved on to use a welding machine to cut the compartments of two ATM machines. The group later escaped with their vehicles after some motorbike taxi drivers approached the area after hearing the noise of the welding machine operation. Police were later called to the scene for investigation.

Vietcom bank later issued a statement that 1.4 billion Vietnamese Dong had been stolen from the robbery operation. 

Nero came back to the city after the operation and met with his girlfriend before he was later arrested. Nero was arrested and has been helping with investigations on the case. He also provided identifications of the 5 other accomplices
