Rodirigo Duterte

The Philippine president Rodirigo Duterte, has been a controversial president since he assumed office, and he currently created a new attention when he said that he had ordered the Navy to kill kidnappers that are trying to escape with their victims.

While speaking in the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporated's installation of trustees and officers at the Marco Polo Hotel, the president told the audience comprising of ambassadors and businessmen to make sure not to be kidnapped.

Order ko talaga sa Navy, sa Coast Guard, basta nag-kidnap tapos trying to escape, pasabugin mo na silang lahat. Sabi nila, [may] hostage. Sorry, collateral damage

(My order to the Navy, Coast Guard is, if they are kidnappers and they are trying to escape, blow them up. They said, there are hostages. Sorry, collateral damage.)

"Kaya huwag kayo magpa-kidnap, sa totoo lang (Don't get kidnapped, honestly), Duterte said jokingly, while the audience chuckles.

The president believes that the his hard stance on the new policy will make kidnappers think before any further operation;

If they are blasted everyday, that would stop or at least places us in a very, into a parity. Hindi ka lamang sa kalokohan mo, talagang pasabugin [kita] (You don't have an advantage because of your foolishness, I will really blast you away)

Kidnapping for ransom is the trade of the day in parts of Mindanao, as terrorist groups like the Abu-sayeff can use such ransom to fund their organisation.

President Duterte of the Philippines is wanting to reimpose the death penalty so that criminals can all pay for their crimes just in the case that there is no God. The president believes that he would bring it back even though the “bleeding hearts” like priests and human rights groups have said that it does not reduce crime rate.

In a speech at Malacañang on Monday afternoon, Duterte said;

Every president along the way didn’t impose it only because the Catholic Church and all the bleeding hearts would say that only God could kill. But what if there is no God?

When a one-year-old baby, 18-months-old baby is taken from the mother’s arms brought under a jeep and raped and killed. So where is God? My God, where are you?

I believe in God but that is my perpetual question to him. Where were you when we needed you? It’s not enough to say that at the end of the world, he will judge the living and the dead. What would be the purpose of all of that if the heartaches, sorrows and agony have already been inflicted in this world?
