Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam: In the wake of the execution of 4 Nigerians in Indonesia alongside the Bali nine duos, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, one tends to ask why are so many Nigerians in South East Asia jails. Nigerians are in jails for various reasons like currency counterfeiting, Online/dating scams, violence, crime and the reasons you find most Nigerians in prison is Drug trafficking.

A lot of Nigerians have left their country for Greenland, hoping to live a better live away from the corrupt ridden nation, Nigeria. But are soon lured into different drug syndicate and the arms of the law usually catch up with them. Most of these Nigerians have travelled abroad without a good education and have believed they could find menial jobs abroad, while others have travelled as a footballer, they hope they could get signed to a team in the Vietnam National league, but were soon disappointed after the country strict law on the number of foreign nationals a team can possess. A football team can only have 2-3 foreign national making it a stiff competition among the best players.

In an ode written to all Nigerians in Vietnam, the president of the association, Mr Solomon Bamidele Junior has asked that the member of the association must now stand up against crime and violence in their host country. The president urged that Nigerians in Vietnam must stand to replace the country negativity to positivity and rebuild the image of the country in Vietnam.

Solomon Bamidele Junior speaks to the Press after leading other Nigerians to orphanage home.

The ode written on his official website, his a great reminder for Nigerians, not only in Vietnam, but all around South East Asia:

Time to stand!

Time to counteract the crime and violence which seems to hold our Nationals in Vietnam at ransom

Time to unite in numbers, time to replace the negativity with positivity

Time to join forces with visionaries like the ANCV officials and Nigeria embassy in Vietnam officers., Time to save our country

Time to stand together against crime and violence within our nationals in Vietnam

Time to end the silence!

One arrested for drug trafficking

Other catch with fake currencies

Another one left us illegally

Mothers and fathers are stressing back home

Crime and violence continues to escalate

The image of a beautiful country these perpetrators penetrate

Stop! Before you decide to stand or not walk in the shoes of those who suffer

How would you feel if you lost your business?

How would you feel if someone endangered your life?

How would you feel if someone cheats you?

How would you feel if it all happened before your eyes?

I ask again how would you feel if it all happened before your eyes?

Nigerians and the rest of Africans in Vietnam let us stand united as one

With the theme “together as one we can”

Let us stand regardless of tribe affiliation

Let us stand as we exceed our very own limitations

Let us combat the negativity that flows like a river within our country

Let us replace the hate with love, let us rebuild our country and image in Vietnam

I Solomon Bamidele Junior is taking a stand

Extending my hand

Brothers and friends we must stand together as one

Supporters of my poetry, supporters of a better Nigeria we must stand together as one

The Nigeria embassy  in Vietnam, Association of Nigeria community in Vietnam the time is now for a joint effort, please I beg you! Together as one we can!
