8 Letters That Can Crash Skype And It Will Not Reopen Again

Last week,we shared a bug on Apple devices (iPad, iOS) that saw the apps crashing with a string of Arabic text. This week, a bug has been reported on the popular video and messaging application, Skype.

The string, “http://:” (without the quotation marks) on Android, Windows Desktop, and iOS apps if received via message will cause the app to crash, and when you try to restart the app again, it will crash. If you restart your phone or Windows PC, it will crash on startup, locking you out completely of the service. Only Skype on Mac app and Modern Windows app is unaffected by the bug, which can be downloaded via the Windows store.

The problem was first reported on Skype forum and deleting Skype chat history won't help as Skype will automatically download it again, and the Skype will crash again.

Skype Spokeswoman in an email said that the company is aware of the email and currently working on a solution for the users.

A temporary solution to this problem is users downgrading from the Skype version 7 to version 6 till a solution is put out by Microsoft.
