Again : Pilot had a heart attack in Mid-air, 160 saved by US Air Force bomber pilot

An air mishap with United airlines that would have cost 160 lives averted after one of the passengers took over the pilot position. The passengers were traveling from Des Moines to Denver when the flight attendant announced if anyone knows how to fly a plane. The plane was 30,000 feet and the pilot is having a heart attack.

Captain Mark Gongol, the hero and man of the moment took a permission from the wife and said he could fly a plane, asked which plane he did fly, he answered that he flies supersonic B-1B Lancer nuclear bombers.

He was helped to the cockpit to help with emergency landing of the plane at the Omaha airport. By this time, the pilot with the cardiac arrest was helped by Linda Alweiss, who was also flying home with her husband on the same flight.

The pilot is said to be responding to the treatment at the time of this report. Also it will be recalled that the same event happened with United airline, but the pilot did not make it as he later died after emergency landing, . Read the story here
