Breaking : Military Government Takes Over Burkina-Faso In A Coup

The military in Burkina-Faso have taken over the government in a coup just before the upcoming general elections in October, 11, 2015. The elite presidential guard unit  had busted into a meeting presided by by the country's president and arrested, President Michel Kafando, Prime Minister Isaac Zida and two ministers.

               

The military took over the airwaves confirming the coup, and said that it already dissolves the transitional government of President Kafando and Prime Minister Zida.

Speaking on the latest development, speaker of the transitional committee Moumina Cheriff Sy said it is "a blow to the republic and its institutions. I call on all patriots to gather to defend the motherland"

News of the standoff caused panic in the  Burkina Faso's capital of Ouagadougou yesterday as shops closed down, and people headed home for fear the coup might escalate, and turns violent.

The transitional government was set up to see to the transitioning of the Oct. 11 presidential election, which the citizen and the world hopes would strengthen the democracy the country after 27-year rule of Compaore.
