British Tourist Found Dead In His Hotel Room In Ibiza

Ibiza, Spain: Alan Drennan, 21, a motor mechanic and part-time bouncer in Belfast has died in his hotel room in Ibiza, less than 24 hours arriving the island with his friends.

Alan from Newtownabbey, in County Antrim had left Northern Ireland on Saturday with nine friends, but was found dead on Sunday morning in his hotel room. The Spanish authority has ruled out any act of violence, and seems that the death is of natural causes, but are waiting on autopsy to confirm that.

Alan's parents, Verona and Alan, and his older brother Lee,have been contacted by the British consulate and making arrangements to bring the remains of Alan back home.

His Dad, Mr Alan Drennan, while speaking to COOL FM said that :

This is breaking our hearts, it really is. We cannot understand why.Alan was called after me and he was just mini me. He was Alan junior. He was me all over and, boy, will I miss him.

The spokesperson of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office said :

We have been liaising with the Spanish authorities and are providing support to the family at this difficult time

Alan's brother, Lee, who had previously written on Facebook on Sunday during lunchtime had asked that anybody with information about his brother should contact him to know if he is fine, as he had not texted home to say he is safe.

12 hours later, he got the sad news that his brother, Alan is dead, and he again took to his Facebook page and wrote :

I’ve learnt this the hard way as I’ve lost a massive part of my life, my wee bro.
After 21 years of listening to his voice everyday and always having him to go to if I ever needed anything or vice versa, to be told I’ll never have that again, is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through.
I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers for me and my family also their respect for him.
He was one of a kind and it’s nice to see so many thing so highly of him. Thank you. I love you so much Alan. Always.
