Bukola Saraki Emerges Senate President, Shunned Meeting With President Muhammadu Buhari

Bukola Saraki emerged as the senate president today. He was elected unopposed,and has been sworn in. Saraki who had been trying all grounds to be senate president had shunned meeting with Vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and had allegedly shunned the meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari today.

                 

Senator Bukola Saraki was endorsed by the PDP as the candidate in a meeting with PDP leaders, who had later told their senators to endorse Saraki as the senate president, he was backed by the minority senators of All progressive congress and those of the PDP.

The election was presided by the clerk of the National Assembly. The election was held while the majority of APC senators was in a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

Senator Saraki has disagreed with the party hierarchy who had chosen another candidate for the office of the senate president.

The election was witnessed by the PDP leaders lead by Olusegun Mimiko while the APC leaders was led by Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano state, Dino Melaye, Shabba Lafiagi and Sanni Yerima Bakura.

The election took place without legal proclamation by the president, Muhammadu Buhari.
