The Nigerian government has ordered a withdrawal of all diplomatic and official passports to all unauthorised individuals, which includes former governors, legislators and ministers. The recent directive was signed by the new Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Martins Abeshi.
Martins Abeshi said :
further to the directive on the withdrawal of diplomatic and official passports held by unauthorised persons, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) hereby directs all affected persons to comply forthwith.
Martins listed the ex-governors, legislators and ministers, commissioners, special advisers/special assistants, chairmen/deputy chairmen of local government areas, all retired heads of parastatals and retired public servants. as holders of this foreign passports.
The NIS boss also warns that the failure for these people not to comply with the directives will result in impounds of these possessions at our control posts on arrival or departure, and also an offence under the immigration Act of 2015
