Former Nigerian U-23 Coach, Stephen Keshi Is Dead

Former Nigeria senior team coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi is now reported dead at the age of 54. The coach was reported dead in Benin city, Edo state in the early hours of Wednesday, and the news was also confirmed by a close relatives and associates of Stephen Keshi.

              

The ex-footballer and former coach had lost his wife, Kate of 33 years to cancer, and according to associates/relatives;

  He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of  illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife

Stephen Keshi is the first Nigerian to win the African Nations cup, and he did that in 2013. He is also the second person to have won the AFCON as a player and coach, while the first person is Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary.

He represented Nigeria in his 20s, from 1982 to 1994, and was also a captain of the team, playing the central defender role.

He coached Nigeria, Togo and Mali.

He is survived by four children and a mother...
