In my last post, I gave you different stores name in Vietnam to buy your electronics/clothing online. Today, i will show you how to have free Ad for your used product while in Vietnam. I will name few classified sites that you can place free ads for your stuff before you leave or when you are in Vietnam. Some items that can be posted on these websites includes :Used clothing, tickets, Used electronics/Mobile phones.
Chotot : It's a free classified website that allows buying and selling. It allows free ad and you can post to any of the regions in Vietnam. You can sell your second hand stuff here from the cars to the electronics. Though this car is in Vietnamese, it will be better if you use google translate plugin on Chrome to translate the full page so you can understand it in your desired language.
To put your items for sale and see great turnout, it is advisable to translate the product description from English to Vietnamese. You can also ask a Vietnamese to help you till what you need sell is sold. So when you think Free classifieds in Vietnam, you should think Chotot.
Danang/Hoi An Expats Website : This is one of the websites for expats in the central part of Vietnam. The Danang/Hoi An expats is having a section that allows expats in this region to sell and buy used stuff. The website allows people to post free ads. This can be anyone leaving the city and needs to sell their second hand stuff in Hoi An or Danang or people that needs few things and need to buy from people who have no use for them anymore.The classified section of the website had helped a lot of locals and expats in the past. The New Hanoian : This is also an expat website based in Hanoi. The website allows for expats and locals to post free ads on the website and people interested can buy from them. This website is more popular than craiglist in Hanoi and locals and expats do know about the website. A lot of transactions had happened in the past on this website and it is free. No commission or any hidden charges. Buy and sell your products when you are in Hanoi on "The New Hanoian". This is also English with a Vietnamese and French.
OLX/Jaovat : Jaovat is the sister to OLX. OLX is one of the popular classified listing website. Just like craigslist having different domains at different region, same is OLX. The version of OLX in Vietnam is the Jaovat. Jaovat allows free ad posting too. It is also available in English, Vietnamese, French and Chinese.
It allows the sale from Cars to your computers and other used electronics. Though some store are using websites like Jaovat to market their products too.
Travel Swop : This is a website that allows you to sell your motorbikes in Vietnam. This website is good for tourist travellers that travels from north to South. If you decided to buy a bike in Ho Chi Minh City, and heading to Hanoi, travel swop automatically connects you to travellers in Hanoi. You can decide to sell the bike you used to travel to Hanoi at a cheaper rate and tell them about what to do on the way and where to avoid. Cool right?
So whenever you are heading to Vietnam, and one of your plans is travelling through the city, you need to have Travel swop at the back of your mind to make your journery easier. Travel Swop also deals with buying and selling of cars too.
Craigslist : This is one popular website also in Vietnam. A lot of people are familiar with craiglist from their home country and continue to use it even in Vietnam. Craiglsit is popular among foreigners and you will also be able to buy or sell your used materials on the website too. Craigslist might not be as popular among locals in the classified section, but it is doing great among foreigners and tourist coming to Viet Nam.
Rongbay: This is Vietnam, so expect more Vietnamese website for buying and selling. Rongbay is another Vietnamese website that has helped in the past with selling and buying of second hand things, recently I have seen that you get the best house rate for rent in Rongbay than contacting an agent.
Also, if you are looking to buy a second hand phone, a laptop, rent a car, an office, looking for a job(mostly Vietnamese people here), the tax office and many more.

- Folks have written to us about the difficulties of navigating the Vietnamese website due to the language, to be able to fix this, you have 2 options;
1. Call a Vietnamese friend and browse the website together
2.Use Google Chrome, and download a google translate tool, this is also available for mobile users. With these programs, you can use the website effectively(I mostly use this option myself)
