Human rights activist, Khurram Zaki was shot dead in Karachi by Islamic extremist after he posted on Facebook praising London for electing its first Muslim mayor, ignoring ethnicity, religion and only elected because of his hard work.
Khurram Zaki, who is also an editor of the political website Let Us Build Pakistan (LUBP), was shot dead while having tea with 2 other friends.
According to reports on his assassination, four gunmen on a motorbike drove past the tea shop, shooting sporadically at the three friends, and fled the scene.
Zaki died afterwards after receiving treatment at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, and later moved to a private hospital. His two friends are still being treated at the hospital.
Police at the scene collected 12 bullet casings and investigating the murder.
Reacting to his death, the new editor of the political website Let Us Build Pakistan (LUBP), described him as someone with valuable credentials and right activist more than those in the mainstream media or NGOs. He added;
His death is the grim reminder that whoever raises voice against Taliban, ASWJ/LeJ and Jamaat-e-Islami Deobandi mafia in Pakistan will not be spared. And when they have to murder, they never fail.
