Nigeria : Workers in the health sector in Nigeria have complained of about government insensitivity to it's plight, and therefore embarked on a nationwide strike. The health sector had been having close doors meeting with government officials.
The workers who first agreed to suspend the strike, started the strike again as talks between the health sector member and the governrment officials failed. Different federal hospitals in the country had since been closed down and workers are not coming to work. A lot of patients had to go to private hospitals and needed to pay more for their health and complained that the government had once again failed them.
Speaking to some of the health workers at government hospitals, they said that the government had breached an agreement between the Nigerian medical association and itself and will therefore not go back to work.
Nigerians are hoping the government and the medical association can resolve the rift and restore normalcy in the health sector soon.
