Phnom Penh, Cambodia: A Nigerian man, Ekwegbaly Ugochukwu Udoka, 26 has been charged to court on Monday for raping a Norwegian tourist, 27 years after he posed as a taxi driver and offering to drive her home from a nightclub in the early hours of Friday.
Udoka was arrested in his rented apartment, Dangkao district’s Dangkao commune at about 8 a.m. Friday after the lady made a complaint about the incident to the police. He took advantage of the tourist after he noticed she was intoxicated while dancing at the Cotton Club in Daun Penh district.
The district police chief, Mr. Minh Vang said :
At about 4 a.m. Friday morning, the female victim was drunk and went outside to call a taxi to bring her to her hotel. The suspect pretended to be a taxi driver.
Mr. Udoka then drove the woman to his apartment and asked her to come inside, claiming he forgot something that he needed. However, when the female victim went inside, he locked the door, pushed her to the ground, dragged her to the kitchen and raped her
The woman convinced Mr. Udoka to release her at about 5:30, then took a moto-taxi to the Dangkao commune police station where she filed her complaint.
After we received the complaint, we led a force to arrest the suspect.
The court will declare verdict on the 8th of May, 2015
