Political Activist, Kem Ley, Shot Dead In Broad Daylight In Cambodia, Suspect Arrested

 Kem Ley,a  frequent critic of the Cambodia prime minister, Hun Sen, was shot dead last Sunday at a  Phnom Penh gas around 9am.

According to National Military police spokesperson, Eng Hy, the victim was identified by police officers at the crime scene. Hy said that ; 

“According to reports we just received, it’s Kem Ley,” he said. “He is dead.”

The suspect was later arrested around 10:30am, but police decline to give further information on the arrest.

Kem Ley founded the grassroots Khmer for Khmer advocacy group in 2014 with the aim of helping spark the formation of localized political parties across the country.
