Six Gay Men Arrested And Detained In Benin, Nigeria

Benin, Nigeria: Police in Benin have arrested six suspected homosexual men at their hideout. According to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 Headquarters, AIG Musa Daura, the men were arrested after they received information about the activities of the men.

                         

The raid was carried out by the Zonal Anti-Vice Section at their hideout at No. 12 Ikpoba (pandemonium) Slope, and the suspected gay member arrested are: Festus Osagiede, male (24); Hyacinth Vincent Omahanrebho, male (20); Itama Omon, male (25); Onwuka Prince, male (48); Monye Samuel Chukwu,a, male (23); and Osadebe Kelvin, (26). Osadebe Kevin was arrested at around the Benson Idahosa University.

The suspects have been in the act of homosexuality since 2006, and have confessed to being homesexuals. According to Musa Daura;

The leader of the gang and principal suspect, Festus Osagiede first committed the crime with the third suspect, Itama Omon in 2006 when both attended a night club in Benin City.

After the third suspect (Itama) got drunk, Festus Osagiede took him to his house and forcefully had carnal knowledge with him. Since then, they have been committing the crime with each other at large until on the 9th of May, 2016 when luck ran out on the, and they were arrested by the zonal detectives.

The AIG called on parents and guardians to keep a closer check on their children, and warned them of the abominable act, and also check their company of friends.
