South Korea lawmakers Impeach Leader, Park Geun-hye

The corruption scandal that has caused unrest and protest in South Korea has led to the impeachment of President Park Geun-Hye. 

The parliamentary motion passed by 234 votes to 56, which is also an indication that her own party members have voted to oust her from her position. Her power has now been transferred to Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-Ahn.

               

President Park Geun-Hye political scandal had caused a protest that brought out millions of Koreans, asking for her removal from power. 

The removal now means she is suspended from her position, but the decision will be made final by a nine-constitutional court, which has six months to deliberate.

If the decision is upheld, Ms Park will be dismissed, and will be the first South Korean president to be deposed in the country's democratic era.
