Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk Resigns From Office

Ukrainian Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk has just resigned from office. Yatsenyuk has been in office since the former pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych was removed from office in 2014.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced the news via Twitter and said he will inform parliament on Tuesday.

I took the decision to resign as prime minister of Ukraine. On Tuesday, April 12, I will submit it to parliament. My decision is based on a several reasons - the political crisis in the government has been unleashed artificially, the desire to change one person has blinded politicians and paralysed their will to bring about real changes in the count.

Yatsenyuk was advised by the current president,  Petro Poroshenko who asked him to quit office as he had lost support. The government of Yatsenyuk has been said to be inactive and highly corrupt, and have recently threatened by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that aid to the country will be withheld if the government did not carry out reforms.

Parliamentary Speaker Volodymyr Groysman has been nominated to replace Arseniy Yatsenyuk by Petro Poroshenko party.
