Women In Saudi Arabia Now Allowed To Vote After 100 Years Of Modern Saudi

Saudi Arabia has now lifted the ban that stops woman from registering and voting for election in the country. This is a major victory for the Saudi Women as women will now be able to participate in the election for the 1st time in 100 years of modern Saudi Arabia.

The women will be able to run and vote in municipal polls scheduled for December.

King Abdullah had made an official statement in 2011 about allowing women to vote in the country, but the statement will eventually be put to an effect come 2015.

Reports from Saudi Arabia local media says that the women have started registration to prepare for the upcoming local elections as voters and contestants. This might be the first step in the right direction for Saudi women who are restricted from contributing to the society.
