The US President Donald Trump is donating $1million from his own fortune to the Hurricane Harvey relief fund. The president is yet to determine the group to give the money to, but he is soliciting from the media worthy groups to give the money.
According to press secretary Sarah Sanders;
He would like to join in the efforts that a lot of people we have seen across the country do. "He'll pledge, proudly, $1 million of his own personal money to help the people of Texas and Louisiana."
He would like to join in the efforts that a lot of people we have seen across the country do.He'll pledge, proudly, $1 million of his own personal money to help the people of Texas and Louisiana. He actually asked that I check with the folks in this room since you are very good at research and have been doing a lot of reporting into the groups and organizations that are best and most effective in helping and providing aid, and he'd like some suggestions from the folks here and I'd be happy to take those
The president has also asked that his supporters donate to the effort in the Harvey disaster. He asked that they donates to the groups involved in the Texas recovery effort. There are some trustworthy groups currently helping with the relief of the Hurricane Harvey, as we listed here.
When asked about whether the money will come directly from President Trump own bank account or Trump's organization, Sanders said she is not sure from where the money will be coming from, but she knows it's the president own's money.
Trump in the past had come under scrutiny from reporters after promising to donate but not following true on his words. One of those was a promise he made to veterans during his presidential campaign, but nothing happened until he was called into question by reporters.
In March, President Trump announced to reporters that he will be donating his Presidential salary to an organization, and also his former press secretary, Sean Spicer asked reporters for suggestions to where to make good on the donations. Since then, Donald Trump has donated his salary to the National Park Service and the Department of Education.
