Togo's President Faure Gnassingbe has won the country's election as president for his term bid. Gnassingbe won his opponent, Jean-Pierre Fabre in the Saturday polls with 58. 75 percent to 34.95 votes respectively.
The party supporters of President Gnassingbe have been dancing outside the headquarters of the ruling party. The presidency said :
It is the victory of the Togolese people who want, with the president Faure Gnassingbe, to continue advancing toward progress and in peace
Faure Gnassingbe family have been ruling Togo, a small west Africa nation for almost half a century. The incumbent president came into power after the death of his father, Gnassingbe Eyadema, and saw his third term bid by overwhelming support from North of the country, the family stronghold.
The number of people who stayed away from the poll is 40.01 percent against 35.32 percent in the previous presidential election in 2010.
The EU, said on Tuesday that election "went off calmly, confirming the Togolese people's attachment to democracy"
The opposition parties accused the president, Faure Gnassingbe of electoral fraud despite international community saying it is free and fair, but the president responding to the allegation said :

In Togo, there is no limit to a time a president can go for re-election, the opposition wants a two term limit.
