Oh Not Again : LAPD Killed Another Unarmed Black Man

Los Angeles, USA: A shooting occured on Tuesday night, killing one unarmed homeless black man, Brandon Glenn. Glenn was said to have had a confrontation with an L.A. police officer on the Venice boardwalk.

At approximately 11:30pm, the shooting occurred in the front of a local bar.  Officers had arrived at Windward Avenue after there was complaints of Glenn, also known in the community as Dizzle, was harrassing customers with his dog. The officers had arrived and tried to detain him, but it was not successful, one of the officers opened fire that saw the man pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 2 officers, yet unnamed had been put on administrative leave. Though Glenn was a black male, the officers that shot him were also blacks. The event was caught on security camera and also the body camera of the police officers. The video motion displays that Glenn was trying to reach for the gun of one of the officers before he was shot.

Though the video is yet to be made public view, but few people who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, it shows the man struggling with the officer's weapon, but was put to the ground, it looks like the officers had control of the situation. But then, one of the officers began to walk away, and Glenn was struggling with the second officer, then the first officer shot his weapon.

Though no audio in the video, but the physical action of the man could not justify the shooting by the first officer.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck told reporters Wednesday that he had reviewed the recording and was "very concerned" about the shooting. He declined to elaborate about what was on the video, but said he did not see "the supporting evidence that I normally would."

"Any time an unarmed person is shot by a Los Angeles police officer, it takes extraordinary circumstances to justify that," Beck said. "I have not seen those extraordinary circumstances."

Friends and associates of Glenn had said, though he had drinking problems, , but he was well known and liked in the homeless community in L.A. They said he was mild-mannered and a friendly person.

Brandon Glenn was getting his life on track and seeking a new job before the incident.
