Obama once again throws a jab at the Republican party nominee, Donald Trump on Tuesday, calling him “unfit” to be president. The president makes the remark during a White house news conference with Singapore's prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, in response to Trump's attack on an American Muslim family, Khizr and Ghazala Khan, whose son was killed in Iraq.
President Obama also advises Republican leaders to withdraw support for Donald Trump for disrespecting a Gold star family.
The Genesis/The Donald Bait
Khizr and Ghazala Khan, father of a US fallen soldier had appeared during the Democratic National Convention, and during his speech criticized Trump for his comment on banning Muslim and Immigrants. Khizr called Trump unpatriotic and also selfish, and accused him of his divisive comments and asking for him to read the American constitution.
Trump replies in part, and slightly attacking Khizr's faith by suggesting that during the speech, Ghazala Khan, wife of Khizr was not allowed to speak because of her religion.
Ghazala then responded to Trump that she did not want to speak, as she will get too emotional.
Obama Rides Trumps
The notion that he would attack a Gold Star family that had made such extraordinary sacrifices on behalf or our country, the fact that he doesn't appear to have basic knowledge around critical issues in Europe, in the Middle East, in Asia means that he's woefully unprepared to do this job
Obama said during the press conference. Obama, who noted that the speaker of the house, Paul Ryan, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and Senator McCain have all criticized Trump's comment on the Khan's, but still hold on to their endorsement of him.
Obama then said;
The question I think that they have to ask themselves is, if you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him.
What does this say about your party that this is your standard-bearer?"
Obama himself has endorsed the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, and according to a Gallup poll released last month, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are among the worst-rated presidential candidates of the last 70 years.
