Governor Raji Babatunde Fashola was praised on Twitter after he left his administration of Governor of Lagos state, he was praised with his brilliancy and his choices of words, as many recommended him for Vice-president in the past election, while some Nigerians believes he will be an excellent Minister for works if appointed. In this story you are about to read, you will believe all politicians are all the same.

Raji Fashola Website Saga

Last week, Governor Fashola name started trending on Twitter after an allegation that he designed a new website for 78 Million Naira ($392,403). A lot of users were raging at what sort of website he was going to build to cost that much. After a few days of rage and talks on Twitter, the firm released a statement saying that the website was quoted 12m Naira only, and the administration had paid less than 10m Naira.

Read their statement :

Our attention has been drawn to the Twitter campaign alleging that the Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babatunde Fashola spent N78m to upgrade the www.tundefashola.com website, a site dedicated to giving citizens unfettered access to the governor’s daily activities and open access to information.

It is imperative to state here that the website in question is not Mr. Babatunde Fashola’s personal website but an official website which reports and documents his official activities as a way of accounting for his stewardship to the people of Lagos State.

While we do not hold brief for the Lagos State Government, the selective loading of contracts awarded and executed by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency is itself suspect and aimed at a pre-determined end. The statement of the contract line item and the cost ascribed to the website of the agency are therefore misleading and mischievous.

N12.5m was quoted for the upgrade of the www.tundefashola.com website, which includes the complete re-design of all the hundreds of page templates. Meanwhile, the LASG spent less than N10m on this and not N78m being circulated on the social media.

Info Access Plus Limited will provide free technical support for the entire life cycle of the website.

Info Access Plus Limited will manage the contents of the site, which consist of press releases, speeches, photos, videos, etc., for one year.

For a company with such brand and prizes, you will expect a working website. When you find it, please write it in the comment box below.

Employment Not On Merit, Wasteful Permanent Secretaries

You might not see it yet, but Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is trying to clear the wrong of Fashola after he noticed that the former governor had been using 53 permanent secretaries in his administration, and also has been employing people that are friends and colleagues, bring backwardness to the Lagos state civil service. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Federal government has only known to only use 43 permanent secretaries.

Governor Ambode has reviewed the permanent secretaries, and has said all career permanent secretaries go back as directors, while all others that had been employed for political reasons will join their family soon.

Lagos State Resident Registration Agency (LASRRA)

In a move that was very sensitive when he assumed office, Governor Ambode sacked the head of all Boards of parastatals and agencies, Lara Fashola (Tunde Fashola sister) and another 75 people were affected by the sack. This is what had happened.

The Lagos State Resident Registration Agency (LASRRA), which is tasked with the capturing and issuing of identity cards to Lagos state residents has collected 7 Billion Naira for the project, but LASSRA was only able to register only 400,000 people out of an estimated 18 Million people in the state.

Also, when Lola Fashola was in LASSRA, news of the people reported that the government single-handedly paid 150 Million Naira to repair a room that was destroyed by a thunderstorm. According to a source who spoke to the news of the people, “How much did we rent the entire building that we spend N150million to repair a room?” the source said.

Ambode Revokes C of O

Another maladministration by the Fashola administration is the issuance of C of O's. The new government is being revoking C of O's after Fashola was said to have hurriedly signed a lot of it, weeks before the end of his administration.

Some of the C of O's revoked includes the land that had been allocated to top government officials without due processes.

Governor Fashola had established an agency which was also heavily funded to repair and handle all maintenance of Lagos state government properties. The agency was headed by a general manager that was allegedly said to be having a romantic relationship with Governor Tunde Fashola. The agency was said to be very corrupt that he angered Governor Ambode, and the general manager was the first to get attacked by the operation clean Lagos state.

Nike Animasaun Saga

Nike Animashaun is known for being another corrupt person in the Fashola administration, but Tunde Fashola will not blink an eye. A source close to NOTP reveals that the 2Billion Naira allocated to in the 2014 budget was squandered and not well accounted for.

The accomplice of Nike is Debola Omoboya, Omoboya works as director at the Ministry of Science and Technology. He was said to have diverted 200 Million contract job for his own company. He was directed to face the panel of service commission last week, but was later fired last week.

Nike Animashaun who still wants to enjoy her position in the ministry had met with the Oba of Lagos, Oba Akiolu to help intervene on her behalf, and help her get mercy from Ambode, and be transferred to the Land ministry, but the Oba told her to pray to leave the service in peace, as everyone already knows of her excesses and he won't be a party to that conspiracy, she should go.

Nike is said to be having in a romantic relationship with one of Tunde Fashola best friend, Tunji Olowolafe.

Rumours have it that Akinwunmi Ambode was not Governor Fashola best candidate for Governor of the state, and he never supported his mandate. But the Asiwaju of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu supports him, and since he is the APC leader, Fashola gave in, but he was not happy with the decision.

Fashola had sacked Ambode from the Lagos state civil service. A report that was denied by the office of the governor during the campaign.

The Lagos state governor, Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has received the delegation of a leading global brand in the retail market, Walmart in his Lagos office. The delegation led by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart Europe, Middle East, Africa and Canada, Shelley Broader met the governor on Thursday.

The governor while welcoming the delegation promised that the state will give necessary support Walmart in establishing its presence in the state. The governor said that the presence of Walmart will boost the economy of Lagos state and be another means for creating jobs for the youths in the state.

Mr Akinwunmi Ambode said :

That summaries the reason why Walmart has to berth in Lagos. We are committed to expanding the business scope for Walmart and like I said, I am interested in having your brand signature in Lagos.

You have been pro-people and that’s why we find a congress between the objectives of Walmart and Lagos State Government.
As we speak, we have a population of over 21 million people and four million of that population are in the middle class. We have a bulging youth that is craving for employment and whatever it is that we do, we want to make sure that we attract as much investment to Lagos that can help us to take our youths off the streets and give them employment.

What I stand here to offer is the commitment to make the investment climate favourable to investors. We want to ensure that whatever it is that would make the business bigger for you, we are committed to it.
I want to assure you that if it is in the area of land permits or authorisation for issues that relate to setting up business, we are committed to making sure that we fast-track and do it as transparent as possible to allow more businesses to come to Lagos.

Mrs Broader while speaking said that the group is ready to invest in the state, and also acknowledged the investment opportunities in the state. Broader said ;

We are incredibly excited and proud to be in this exciting state of Lagos. Just looking at the burgeoning economy and at the growth in this market is very exciting and now Walmart operates around the world in 28 countries and our mission is to lower the cost of living, to help people save and live better.
The passion that you feel right when you land at the airport, there’s an excitement here. You can feel that this is a state within a country really on the move forward. There is a smile on the people’s faces; there is eagerness and there’s a mission that they are on to better themselves and their families. It’s very exciting

The new governor of Lagos state, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode delivered his address after is sworn in today May 19th, 2015, at the Tafawa Balewa square, Lagos.

Today, I have just performed the sacred duty of oath-taking as the Governor of Lagos State. It has pleased GOD through the good people of Lagos State, that my destiny as a little boy, born from a humble background, on the 14th day of JUNE to become the 14th Governor of our great State, Lagos is being realised.

2 I am eternally grateful to all of you. To all Lagosians,

the young and elderly, widows, physically-challenged; girls and boys, and especially, the children; who followed our musical campaign with vigour; God bless you all.

3 Permit me to acknowledge and appreciate specially all the voters that voted for me; equally appreciate those that did not and also the people that did not exercise their franchise to vote at all. We are all winners. One of the instructive lessons from this last political campaign and election is for all politicians never to take our people for granted again. I would, more than ever before; take you, the good people of Lagos, along with me, in this journey of renewed hope and prosperity at all times.

4 My appreciation goes to all our elder statesmen and women including all our senior citizens. To all our religious leaders, I say thank you. All our Muslim leaders, Christians leaders and other faiths; your prayers for Lagos State did not go unanswered.

5 I must not fail to acknowledge all our civil society organisations. The students, civil servants, labour unions, artisans, professionals, corporate Lagos, the business community, thank you very much. To all Lagosians in diaspora, foreign residents and all other stakeholders; thank you for keeping faith in the potential greatness of our State.

6 From the bottom of my heart, I greet all our traditional rulers, our Royal Fathers, Kings, Chiefs and their wives. I thank you all, most especially, the Chairman; the State Council of Obas and Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, Oba of Lagos. We promise to continue to nurture our traditional institutions as part of our heritage.

7 To our Party Leaders and all members of our great party, The All Progressives Congress (APC); today belongs to you all. Our elected Officers, the three Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members of the House of Representatives and Members of the House of Assembly; congratulations and thank you.

8 And my Deputy; Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, thank you.

9 To my family, words are not enough; My mother, who is here today, thank you for being a very caring mother to me. All my uncles, brothers and sisters; I appreciate you. To my lovely wife, Bolanle, thank you so much for your sacrifices and perseverance. God bless you always. My children, friends and loved ones and supporters; I really appreciate the enormity of sacrifices, pain, prayers and efforts. I remain eternally grateful.

10 Lastly, I speak to the two people that have shaped the history of this State in the last sixteen (16) years.

11 You are focused, dogged and hard-working, you are a visioner par excellence. You are a bridge-builder. To our leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; you have laid an enduring foundation for what we are all building on today. When the history of the political economy of Nigeria is being written, surely it would be kind to you. Thank you so much.

To our Distinguished Senator, (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu; your support and commitment to our State and to me personally during the election is well appreciated.

12 To the out-going Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), you have fought the good fight. You came, you saw, you conquered. I have been at close quarters as a student, you as my teacher and mentor. On behalf of my family and other good people of Lagos; we say thank you. We appreciate you and your family.

13 EVERYBODY COUNTS

As we collectively face the challenge to make Lagos a better place to live in, we must recognize our strength in diversity. A common national identity where everybody counts. I shall run an open government of inclusion that will not leave anyone behind. No matter your age, sex, tribe or any other Status, as long as you reside in Lagos, we will make Lagos work for you.

14 THE NIGERIAN DREAM

Lagosians are hardworking people. Lagos is striving because of its undying entrepreneurial spirit. However we must realise that there are no short-cuts to success. To our youths, we must nurture good family values to succeed in any endeavour. I want our younger ones and children to draw some lessons from my story. Anyone of you can rise up to be the best you want to be. Your background and circumstances cannot be an obstacle to your dreams. In our country, particularly in Lagos, you can always succeed. This is the Nigerian dream where hard-work, courage, perseverance, persistence, merit and rewards pay. We must therefore embrace new thinking and be determined to succeed at all times. I am ready to encourage and nurture that dream in our children, youths and every hard-working Lagosian. We would reward merit, hard-work and loyalty to the State. The future is for those who dare to dream and find courage to pursue their dreams.

15 THE FUTURE IS NOW

We are all witnesses to the economic downturn and dwindling revenues at the national and state levels. The present economic situation has affected the financial profile of most states in the country.

The state is blessed that the foundation of its financial autonomy was designed and implemented by that visioner and our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Thus, the state has been partially shielded from the negative trend flowing from the federal level.

For us to sustain the progressive and radical transformation on-going in the state, we have to redouble our efforts on all fronts for our commitment to excellence. While we must be creative and innovative; we are not citizens until we become responsible tax payers. I want to assure all of us that I will make your taxes work for you. You will surely get a transparent and incorruptible government that will give you good value for your taxes paid.

Creativity is the most valuable asset in any public institution. Progressive governments must reward contributors of good ideas. Therefore, wherever practicable, we shall practise government by incentives and not government by enforcement. We shall implement creative ideas and concepts that reduce the cost of running government; ideas that make life simpler and happier for our people.

I, therefore, invite you all, to join hands with me, to offer new ideas that will pull more resources to cater for the poor and needy amongst us. This will be a compassionate government.

16 DEVELOPMENT PLAN (2012 – 2025)

In the spirit of continuity, I am committed to the State Development Plan (2012 – 2025). The plan is structured under four pillars; (1) Social Development and Security; (2) Infrastructural Development; (3) Economic Development and (4) Sustainable Environment.

The challenges we face today as a State, are good enough ingredients to bring out the best of all of us. Together, we shall push forward and not look back, with our hands firmly on the plough. We would work hard to tackle poverty, ignorance and social decadence in our State.

17 PUBLIC SECTOR REFORMS

As we all know, the best practices of yesterday may not be good enough for the products of today. In this sense, we shall embark on continuous reforms in the public service. I am determined to demonstrate that the government belongs to the citizens. You have put us here as servants to serve you and not you serving us. Today we are committed to that creed.

Moving forward, the Civil Service will be strengthened and made to respond to the needs of all citizens in the same manner, quality services are rendered in the private sector.

My administration is prepared to take the decisions needed to promote merit and professionalism. To restructure where required, eliminate poor Human Resource practices and accelerate the pace of reforms in the spirit of good governance.

I want to assure the business community and corporate Lagos that the ease of doing business in Lagos will be improved upon earnestly. Lagos is open for greater business; To this end, a new office of Overseas Affairs and Investment (LAGOS GLOBAL) shall be created under the Governor’s Office.

We want you to fly into Lagos, start your business, find your way; live, work and enjoy in Lagos.

As part of our reforms, a new Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment shall be established. This would specifically address the promise I made during the campaign on employment trust fund, labour exchange and entrepreneurship. This goal, we shall pursue vigorously.

Also, the Office of Civic Engagement shall be created under the Deputy Governor’s Office to strengthen and enhance our promise on government of inclusion. Everyone must have a voice in my administration.

18 CONCLUSION

I have the political will to engage investors and stakeholders in creating the enabling environment for tourism, entertainment and arts; and iconic infrastructure for the benefit of all.

Once again, I thank the good people of Lagos for the confidence reposed in our party; both at the national and State levels. We shall not disappoint you. God bless you all.

20 God bless Lagos State

God bless Nigeria

Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko

Oje mi lo gun; Oje wa lo gun

Eko oni baje – I promise.

Thank you.

Epe, Lagos State: The people in Epe local government had cried out because of total blackout of electricity in their local government. Epe local government is one of the biggest local government in Lagos state, and it is located on the North side of Lekki Lagoon.

Epe local government is a small town of 181,409 people, but had been abandoned by all Lagos state government, the town which had produced prominent people in Lagos state still lives in the shadow of itself. It is currently the worst part of Lagos state.

One of the prominent people from Epe is Honourable Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the speaker of the house of Assembly. This does not make the people of Epe enjoy the steady power supply in the state.

A lot of publications had been sent and also pleas to the state government, but none of this had been put into action, a lot of industries and companies had folded up due to the mirage happening in the local government. Also, all businesses that need electricity had needed to move to Ibeju, lekki or Ajah while some had moved to Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Epe local government had been deceived before when the past administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised the local government of an airport and also develop the local government than he met the place, unfortunately, nothing was done throughout his first four years in office. When he needed to be re-elected, he came to the town with mobile recharge cards, free cassette player of his administration praises and throwing money into the air. He had used the illeteracy of the community to deceive the community and was re-elected.

                    itapo epe, lagos state

In June 2, 2012, Nigeria Vanguard released a publication with title " Epe, a community where electricity is a mirage",  also Spyghana released another publication with "Epe residents lament year-long blackout" , and Nigeria News day newspaper "Epe Community Lagos, Celebrates 3 Christmas Without Light".

Since the publication, the people of Epe local government are yet to enjoy one of the dividends of democracy, they had instead been using a generator tagged "I better pass my neighbour". A lot of people had complained about this electricity epilepsy.

Speaking to a man as i ride my way to Ita-opo, a street in Epe, the young man in his thirties told me that the electricity problem in the town had  made him close down his barbing saloon where he work with his wife. He said that the money to get gas is getting more expensive and he is running at a loss, therefore, he decided to be a bike-rider to survive and put food on the table. When I asked him how he feels about people like Adeyemi Ikuforiji not coming to their help, the man said, the man is just from the town and does not live in town. Whenever he is around , he has a power generator running 24/7. So he does not care what happens in town, he is disappointed that such person that would have been useful in this time of need is completely useless.

Ebenezer, a resident of Epe confirmed the news, he said that Epe people are abandoned by the government. Sir, we have to pay for the electricity we don't use, this is what is most annoying in this case, the electricity comes for 5 mins in a month and we won't see it again for another 6 months. This is ridiculous and we hope Governor Raji Fashola would be able to fix this issue before he leaves office.

A mechanic along Cele junction in Epe said that, We had electricity for 5 mins last week, Epe power supply is not poor, it is completely bad. He said that the APC members had been trying to fix the bad power supply, but some hoodlums of PDP broke it down again. This is not a confirmed news as our reporter claimed that this might be exaggerated, but our teams in Epe local government are monitoring the situation.

Epe Local government also is the location of the Lagos State University Campus (Epe Campus) which houses the Engineering students, social works and other programmes. This is a blow to LASU students as they are not able to enjoy electricity in the campus, the school generator either provides for them poor electricity or not working. How do we produce sound engineers in this erratic power supply situation.

Epe local government people had confirmed that Honourable Adeyemi Ikuforiji had failed them, but are now producing a new governor under the platform of All progressive congress. Should Epe  people believe in the governance of Akinwunmi Ambode who is from Epe Local Government? Will he end the year long suffering of power issues in the forsaken local government of Lagos state?

Our team here at Doy News plan to write an email to Mr Segun Jamiu Agbaje, Epe local government chairman and relevant people in the local government, Governor Tunde Fashola would receive a copy of the news as well. The people of Epe local government deserve the dividends of democracy, they deserve electricity.
