Boko News update

The military continue their onslaught against Boko Haram killing the sect and had freed more than 1000 women and kids in the Sambisa forest. The member of a volunteer vigilante group attacked fleeing member of Boko Haram sect in the Hiang-Kukuriyi forest axis  and killed 29 Boko Haram members.

The leader of the Vigilante group, Madu Plungwa said that the operation was successful because the Boko Haram members travelling in a Toyota Hilux van had stopped at a fish farm to eat and drink before moving to the Yobe and Adamawa border.

“The fleeing insurgents were ambushed at this fish farm when they stopped to refuel and eat roasted fish on the farm. As some of them relaxed, five hunters, who have taken strategic positions near the fish farm, opened fire at them and killed 29 in the exchange of gunfire.

Though some of the Boko Haram members escaped, but all had gunshot wounds as they flee the scene of the attack.

The fleeing insurgents were desperate to escape, because most of them have run out of arms and ammunitions, which they used to attack various towns and villages in Borno and Adamawa states" Madu Plungwa said

Confirming the incident, Borno state police command confirmed the clash and said the clash happened between Boko Haram insurgents and the local vigilante group in the area, but not much information can be given to reporters until the DPO submit the security report of the area, the command told reporters.
