Three people have now died in Illinois after they took a marijuana laced with rat poison. The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has alerted doctors nationwide to watch out for patients with severe unexplained bleeding, as 100 others are currently experiencing severe bleedings, including four other states in the country.

On Tuesday, the state recorded new seven patients with the same symptoms. The test by the CDC and sample collected have shown that the so-called synthetic marijuana bought by the victims contains lethal ingredients used in rat poisoning.

The marijuana contains man-made chemicals that are used to produce a large quantity of something similar marijuana.

According to Melaney Arnold, spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Public Health;

The number of cases continues to go up each day. Synthetic cannabinoids in general are not safe and this is one example of not knowing what chemicals are in the product. We are telling people don’t use synthetic cannabinoids.

Symptoms include coughing up blood, blood in the urine, severe bloody noses, bleeding gums and internal bleeding.

When undercover agents bought the fake pot, and tested it, they found out it contains rat poison ingredients. Three store employees were arrested, and will face federal drug charges.
