Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu

All Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Group Executive Directors (GEDs) have been fired and this is effective immediately. The GMD's have got the shock of the day just a day after President Muhammadu Buhari appointed the new group Managing Director of the NNPC, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.


The names of the Group executives sacked and their office are :

  • Mr. Ian Udoh : leading Refining and Petrochemicals
  • Mr. Adebayo Ibirogba:leading the Engineering and Technical team
  • Dr. David Ige : leading Gas and Power
  • Dr. Attahir Yusuf: leading Business Development
  • Dr. Dan Efebo:leading Corporate Services
  • Mr. Bernard Otti : Charge of Finance and Accounts
  • Ms. Aisha Abdurrahman: leading Commerce and Investments
  • Mr. Joseph Dawha : leading Exploration and Production

The GEDs were all appointed by former president, Goodluck Jonathan in March 2014. According to Sahara reporters, the new group managing director of the NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu has promised to reduce the number of GMDs from nine to four.


President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC),Joseph Thlama Dawha, and appointed  Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.

The new GMD, Kachukwu who hails from Onicha-Ugbo in Delta State is a first class graduate of law from the university of Nigeria, Nsukka and the Nigeria law school. He has also got his masters and doctorate degree in law from Harvard law school.


He started his working career with the Nigerian/American Merchant Bank before moving on to Texaco Nigeria Limited, from where he joined Exxon-Mobil.
