mile 12

Lagos, Nigeria: The Lagos state governor, Ambode have shut down one of the busiest market in the state, Mile 12. The order came after a full scale war between the Hausa indigene and Yoruba indigene on Tuesday.

According to eyewitness report, a Hausa commercial bike-rider hit a Yoruba woman while walking, and was told by people around to take the victim to the hospital for treatment, but the Hausa man refused to do that. The incident turned into an argument between the two tribes as the Hausa commercial bike rider refused and said that the motorbike association that collect toll gate from them should take the victim to the hospital.

A fight ensued between both parties, and after a little break up on the fight, the Yoruba went back and reinforced with thugs that went straight to the Hausa traders and started killing them. 4 lives were lost in the process as some of the victims burnt to death.

The fight continued from Tuesday till Thursday before the governor deployed security men to bring peace to the area. Security men are on grounds now  and smokes can be seen from different part of the area, while some young men raise up their hands mimicking the "Hands up, don't shoot"

More than seven cars have also been lost in the disaster and the market have now been shut down permanently till peace is restored.
