Oyo state, Nigeria: The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1 is dead. The Olubadan died in his sleep on Tuesday in his sleep. Oba Samuel Odulana ascended the throne of the Olubadan on Friday, August 17, 2007, at age 93, and died at 101.

The Oba remains have been deposited at UCH mortuary, while the state mourns the king.
The procedure of appointing a new king is underway, and the new king that is next to the throne is High Chief Saliu Adetunji.
Who Is High Chief Saliu Adetunji?
Chief Saliu Adetunji, 80 years old, is the current Balogun of Ibadanland. He was promoted to this rank three weeks ago. He was born in April 14, 1914, in Igbo Elerin to Pa Odulana Ayinla.
Education/Career
High Chief Saliu Adetunji attended St. Andrew's school, Bamgbola Ibadan in January 1922 and later transferred to St. Peter’s School, Aremo, in 1929 for his elementary education, while he completed his middle school in Mapo central school in 1936.
He fought in the World War II, and upon his return to the country, he was charged with demobilizing all the soldiers that returned from the war.
He later joined UAC as a produce clerk, and later started his teaching career in the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in Jago in 1938. He would later proceed to teach at several schools from 1939 to 1942. He was also with the colonial Office Education Department in 1964.
Politics
Chief Saliu Adetunji went into politics and was a member of the house of representatives in 1959, and was appointed as the parliament secretary to Tafawa Balewa. He was appointed the minister of labour , and he led the Nigerian parliamentary delegation to the London constitution conference to restructure the former British colonies of Rhodesia and Nyasaland (now Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia).
Path To Royalty/Chieftaincy
He joined the chieftaincy line in 1972 as the Mogaji of Ladunni compound in Ibadan, and was appointed the Jagun-OluIbadan in 1978. He was later appointed the Jagun Balogun (the first line on the Balogun rung) in 1978.
