Police in Can Tho city have arrested three people who were involved in tricking Vietnamese women to Malaysia with a hope of a better life, but instead the women were turned into sex worker in Malaysia.
According to the Vietnam Online newspaper, Tuoi Tre, the police arrested three Vietnamese in connection to the trafficking case, Tat Cam Linh, 33, and Mai Thi Be Thuy, 38, and a man, Luu Tuan Khanh, 28.
How The Prostitution Rings Work And Organized
Tat Cam Linh had travelled to Malaysia and met with another Vietnamese lady living in Malaysia (Madame). Madame owns a bar and had met Linh in 2006, and while in their discussion had requested that Linh helps her recruit some Vietnamese girls that will work as sex workers in her bar.
Madame offered to pay $1,600 for every successful woman she sent to her from Vietnam.
In 2013, Linh came into Vietnam and make acquaintance with Thuy, and also demanded that she helps with recruiting Vietnamese girls that will work as sex workers at a bar. Linh also asked that Thuy should only tell the girl they will be coming to Malaysia to work and have a well-paid job. She promised to pay $312 for every successful girl recruited
Linh went ahead to add another member to her ring, Luu Tuan Khanh. Linh promised Khanh a sum of $356 for every girl he introduced to her and travelled to Malaysia.
Their Sixth Victim
In July, 2015, Thuy, one of the ring members introduced Pham Thi Kieu, living in Can Tho city to Linh, after knowing that Kieu was interested in having a well-paid job in the city. Linh, the ringleader met with Kieu and told her she will take her to Malaysia.
She delivered her promise as she sent the promised fee to Thuy who had brought the girl in, and also asked Khanh who is the proxy of the payment to give Kieu family a $45 for the upkeep of her children.
Linh then asked that they both stay in a hotel in Saigon, while they await their flight to Malaysia. During their stay at the hotel, Kieu was eavesdropping on Linh phone call where she had the plan between Madame and Linh, and their plan to throw her into the prostitution ring.
Kieu then managed to escape, and reported Linh to the police, and the prostitution ring in Vietnam.
While cooling off her heel at the police station, Linh confessed to have successfully transferred 5 women to Malaysia and all are in Madame care.
The five workers were all tricked into getting a well-paid job, but ended up as sex worker in Malaysia.
