Sharia court

Kano,Nigeria: Youths in Kano, Nigeria started a riot and set ablaze a court house in protest of its decision to free a cleric that committed blasphemy against prophet Muhammad. The rioters are angry with a sect leader, Tijjaniyya, Abdul Nyass.

The youths carried placards and marched to the court house with fuel filled tires and throw the blazing tires into the courthouse, before marching through the street of Mandawari and Dandago, then headed to the Emir of Kano’s palace.

The sect leader during one of his crusade had said that the long dead leader of Tijanniyah sect is way more powerful than the Muslim leader, Prophet Muhammad. He made the statement in Goron Dutse, Kano metropolis during a crusade.

The irate youths threatened to kill Abdul Nyass, but was arrested by the police. The man appeared in the Shariah court, but was freed and ran into hiding.

The youths condemn the court for allowing the man to be freed, and carry their placard condemning the action.

The Kano population is mainly Muslim, and mostly occupied by the Hausas, Muslims have gone against anyone who mock their leader, Prophet Muhammad or the holy book Qu'ran. In Afghanistan, a lady was killed after an amulet seller falsely accused her of burning the Holy Qu'ran.

The youths marched to the Kano government house, but heavily armed security forces were quickly drafted around the area to secure the area.
