Shooting at Lafayette

A 58 years old male theatre patron fired multiple shots in  Grand Theatre 16 in Lafayette, Louisiana, as fans were seeing Amy Schumer new movie, Trainwreck. The people inside the theatre at the time of the shooting were about a 100.

The motive behind the shooting is not known, but Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police said :

There's nothing to believe that there was any kind of motive.We still have a lot of moving parts and a lot of people to talk to.

        

Authorities are witholding the name of the patron, but have known him, though he was dead after the shootout too. Law enforcement remained at the crime scene and theatre patrons have been asked not to move their car as search for evidence goes on.

What We Know So Far

  • Three people have died in a shooting at the Grand Theater in Lafayette, Louisiana.
  • Among the dead was the gunman, whom police described as a “lone white male” aged 58. His identity has not been released.
  • Police said the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
  • Seven people have been injured, with some of them suffering life-threatening wounds.
  • Police say there is no secondary shooter and the scene is secure.
  • No motive has been put forward for the attack.
  • The weapon has not been identified but police say it was a handgun.
